XMC-560 Wood Flooring Adhesive

XMC-560 Wood Floor Adhesive: Reliable Bonding for Every Floorboard

Wood flooring installation may look like a simple process of laying and fixing boards, but the adhesive layer beneath the floor often determines the long-term performance of the entire system. Poor transfer, hollow spots, movement caused by changes in temperature and humidity, difficult-to-bond hardwoods, and excessive waiting time after installation can all affect project quality, productivity, and maintenance costs.

Designed for full-surface bonding applications, XMC-560 Wood Floor Adhesive provides a stable, flexible, and easy-to-use bonding solution for engineered wood flooring, solid wood flooring, bamboo, cork, and parquet flooring.

One Adhesive for a Wide Range of Wood Flooring Applications

XMC-560 is a one-component, moisture-curing polyurethane adhesive designed for full-surface bonding of wood flooring to properly prepared concrete, plywood, leveling compounds, and patching underlayments.

It can be used for flooring products that have been approved by the flooring manufacturer for glue-down installation, including:

  • Engineered wood flooring;
  • Flat-milled solid plank flooring;
  • Short boards;
  • Bamboo flooring;
  • Cork flooring;
  • Parquet flooring;
  • Acoustic rubber underlayment systems for many residential and light commercial applications.

XMC-560 is particularly suitable for challenging-to-bond woods such as beech and bamboo. After proper substrate preparation and compatibility testing, it can also be used for wood flooring installed directly over existing tile and for installations over underfloor heating systems.

Approximately 560% Elongation for Natural Floor Movement

Wood naturally expands and contracts as temperature and humidity change. If the adhesive layer is too rigid, it may be exposed to excessive stress during long-term service.

XMC-560 offers approximately 560% elongation at break and maintains permanent flexibility. When floorboards undergo normal dimensional movement, the adhesive layer can provide a degree of flexibility and stress relief, helping reduce the impact of wood movement on the adhesive and substrate. Its shock-absorbing properties can also contribute to improved comfort and overall floor-system performance.

This flexible bonding behavior is especially valuable for wood flooring projects that require a balance of adhesion, elasticity, and long-term stability.

Low Odor and Easy Troweling for Efficient Installation

On the jobsite, the ease with which an adhesive can be spread and troweled directly affects installer productivity. XMC-560 has a smooth, easy-to-apply consistency and can be evenly spread with the appropriate notched trowel while retaining a consistent texture after smoothing.

At 23°C and 50% relative humidity, the open/drying time is approximately 45–60 minutes. Under suitable conditions, the floor can withstand light foot traffic after approximately 4 hours, while unfinished wood flooring can be sanded after approximately 12 hours. Actual curing time depends on ambient conditions, substrate condition, adhesive thickness, and flooring type.

Compared with two-component products that require on-site mixing, the one-component design eliminates mixing and ratio-control steps, helping simplify installation and support continuous flooring work.

Water-Free Chemistry for Stable Bonding Performance

XMC-560 is a water-free polyurethane adhesive that cures through moisture from the air and substrate rather than by water evaporation. It is designed for use on properly prepared, structurally sound, clean, dry, and level concrete, plywood, gypsum board, unglazed tile, cement-based repair layers, and leveling substrates.

Before installation, the substrate must be free from oil, grease, dust, loose particles, laitance, old paint, and other poorly bonded contaminants. Moisture testing must be completed according to the requirements of the flooring manufacturer. For chemically treated wood, high-oil-content wood, pre-sealed wood, or other special flooring materials, a site-specific adhesion test is recommended before installation to confirm compatibility and bond strength.

Balanced Mechanical Performance for Long-Term Use

According to the TDS typical values, XMC-560 provides the following performance profile:

Product Data Typical Value
Density approximately 1.35 kg/L
Shore hardness approximately 30A
Tensile strength approximately 1.50 MPa
Elongation at break approximately 560%
Shear strength approximately 1.00 MPa
Operating temperature range -40°C to 70°C
Packaging 10 L and 15 L.

These performance values demonstrate a balance of flexibility, adhesion, and temperature resistance, making XMC-560 suitable for wood flooring installation projects where both installation efficiency and long-term stability matter.

More Than Adhesion—A More Reliable Flooring System

The value of a wood floor adhesive is not limited to bonding the flooring to the substrate. It also helps installers build a stable, continuous flooring system that can accommodate normal environmental movement over time.

With one-component moisture-curing technology, approximately 560% elongation at break, low odor, easy troweling, and relatively fast early-stage curing, XMC-560 offers a flexible choice for professional wood flooring installation. Whether the project involves engineered wood, solid wood, bamboo, cork, or parquet flooring, the right adhesive and proper substrate preparation remain essential to achieving reliable results.

XMC-560 is intended for interior use only and should be applied by professional flooring installers in accordance with the latest product TDS, SDS, and flooring manufacturer's installation instructions. XMC also provides stable sealant, adhesive, and industrial bonding material solutions for different project requirements.
